KARACHI, Nov 18: The Department of Computer Science, University of Karachi, on Monday, released the merit lists of admission to BS, MCS (morning and evening) programmes and postgraduate diploma in computer and information science 2003.
The closing percentage for the diploma course remained 37.11. In the case of BS (morning) the cut-off percentage was 54.01, while that for BS (evening) it remained 52.03.
Admission lists for MCS (morning and evening programmes) were closed at 35.37 and 32.02, respectively. The entrance test results are also available at www.csku.edu.pk.
The selected candidates have been asked to appear for interviews which will be held from 9am to 12 noon at the Computer Science department.
Schedule: BS on Nov 19, 20 and 21; MCS on Nov 22 and PGD on Nov 23. The candidates have been asked to bring their original documents at the time of interview.
ADVANCE STUDIES: A meeting of the Board of Advance Studies and Research, University of Karachi, was held on Monday with KU vice-chancellor Dr Zafar Saied Saify in the chair.
The meeting recommended the grant of MS degrees to Dr Fateh Mohammad and Dr Irfanullah Ansari and that of MD to Dr Hiran Kumar, a spokesman for the University said.
It also recommended the grant of MPhil/PhD to Rafat Ara Jamal in Chemistry and PhD degrees to Asad Khalid (Chemistry-HEJ), Dr Syed Mohammad Shamim (Pharmacology) and Tania Baig (General History).
MPhil degrees were also recommended for Abdul Wahid (Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Uzma Shujaat (European Studies), Mohammad Mukarram (Pharmacology), Iffat Tawab (Chemistry) and Zahida Abdul Malik (European Studies).
The participants of the meeting stressed that more and more students be persuaded to conduct research in accordance with the national needs.
They were of the view that the international standard and quantity should also be kept in mind.
The vice-chancellor said that the best results in this regard were expected by the year 2005 in view of the incentives given by the Ministry of Science and Technology.—APP
