ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: The President of People’s Party Parliamentarian, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, on Friday said that his party members would take oath under the 1973 Constitution.
Talking to reporters after a party meeting here at Zardari House he said parliament is a sovereign institution and the issue would also be taken up at parliament.
Regarding the formation of a forward bloc in the party, he said it was very regretful that again the politics of horse trading was being revived in the country.
He said before election he was hopeful that this time the democratic system would be restored in a very different atmosphere, free from politics of horse trading. But again the state machinery was being used for forcing the members to change their loyalties.
On a question whether the party would accept Gen Pervez Musharraf as the legitimate president after his oath under the 1973 Constitution, he said, “parliament is a sovereign institution and it can do or undo any thing.”
When asked whether the party would take any disciplinary action against those who have deserted the party, he said, they were still in the party and the party did not want to take any action in haste.
However, all the 10 members who had formed the forward bloc did not turn up at Friday’s party meeting.
While the party meeting was going on, the group at the residence of Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayyat was meeting with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Chaudhry Shujaat accompanied with Humayun Akhter, Abdus Sattar Lalika and some other party members met the members of PPP forward bloc.
