KARACHI, Nov 8: Two young men fell victim to reckless driving in the city on Friday.
A young man died in a road accident in Liaquatabad. Police said that Mohammed Nawaz, aged 37, was run over by an unidentified speeding vehicle while walking across the main road near the Sindh Government Hospital in Liaquatabad.
He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The driver of the vehicle escaped.
An unidentified young man was hit and injured by an unknown vehicle near the ICI bridge in TPX area in the evening. He was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
After post-mortem the body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.
CARJACKING: Twenty vehicles — five cars and 15 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, police said.
Three cars were hijacked. Two others were stolen.
Seven motorcycles were hijacked. Eight others were stolen.
KILLED: A young man was stabbed to death in Mochko on Friday.
Police said that Umar Din, aged 25, worked as a cleaner at the G-17 minibus terminus near Naval headquarters in Mochko.
On Friday morning, a quarrel took place between Umar Din and another unidentified cleaner, in which the latter stabbed Umar and escaped.
Police said that the Umar was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The victim lived in Bananas Colony and hailed from the NWFP.
BODY FOUND: An unidentified body was recovered from a goods train at the railway yard on Friday. It was sent to Civil Hospital for post- mortem.
Sources at the hospital said that the body was at least two days old and had begun to decompose.
After post-mortem the body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.
ARRESTED: The Anti-car Lifting Cell arrested 16 persons in the city on Friday.
The ACLC recovered two cars, six motorcycles and eight pistols from their possession. Police parties have been dispatched also to different parts in the interior Sindh following interrogation of the suspects, police said.
Police arrested three suspected car hijackers in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and recovered two stolen cars and three TT pistols from them.
