KARACHI: Shifting of industries from residential areas urged

KARACHI, Nov 7: Governor Sindh Muhammedmian Soomro has stressed integrated efforts for development of parks and green belts in Karachi, and directed the authorities concerned to control illegal industrial activities in the surroundings of the parks.

He issued these directives at a high-level meeting at the governor‘s house which also reviewed the pace of development schemes. The governor took serious notice of industrial activities in residential areas and ordered their immediate removal/shifting to industrial areas.

Mr Soomro asked the authorities to seek cooperation of communities in that respect keeping in view the requirements of better environment.

The meeting also reviewed the project for developing a park at site of old Sabzimandi at the University Road. This project will cost millions of rupees and all the expenditures are to be borne by the army instead of the city government.—PPI
