PML-N flays NA session’s delay

ISLAMABAD, Nov 6: The parliamentary party of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) at its meeting on Wednesday condemned the government’s decision of postponing the inaugural session of the National Assembly by a weak.

The meeting, presided over by the party’s acting parliamentary leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali, termed the decision a blatant attempt on the part of the government to impose ‘King’s party’ through the worst kind of horse-trading in the history of Pakistan.

In a resolution unanimously adopted by the PML-N, it noted that the demand for putting off the session of National Assembly had exposed the claims of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) of having support of 180 MNAs-elect.

The government by postponing the session had provided yet another opportunity to the King’s party to muster support of required number of candidates through the help of government agencies like the National Accountability Bureau, it stated.

The party demanded that the session should be convened on Nov 8, as had earlier announced by the government so that the elected representatives could form the government.

The meeting claimed that the previous government of the PML-N had rid the culture of horse-trading through the 14th constitutional amendment.

The government, it noted, had repeated the same mistake which had been committed by Gen Yahya Khan after the elections in 9170 and which had culminated in the debacle of East Pakistan.

The PML-N parliamentary party also took serious note of ‘the government’s resources’ being extended to the PML-Q prime ministerial candidate. The party, in a resolution, called upon the chief election commission to take notice of ‘misuse’ of the official resources by the PML-Q candidate.

The meeting said that the use of official plane by Mir Zafarullah Jamali was a “worst kind of electoral corruption.”

The meeting also demanded of the government to immediately release Dr Amir Aziz who had been arrested by the FBI.

It also reaffirmed the party’s commitment for the restoration of 1973 Constitution and supremacy of parliament.

The PML-N called upon the government to make arrangement to ensure presence of Javed Hashmi at the inaugural session of the National Assembly.

NAWAZ SHARIF: The Pakistan Muslim League (N) chief and former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, in his message on the eve of Ramazan, urged the political parties to unite for the restoration of the Constitution to ensure national integrity.

In his message, received here on Wednesday, he said that the independence, security and prosperity of the people was linked to the security and sovereignty of the country.

He urged the people to pray for the peace and security of the country.
