KARACHI: No strike today

KARACHI, Nov 6: On the assurance of cooperation by the provincial and City governments, the transporters organizations announced here on Wednesday that they had discontinued their strike. The strike call was originally given for two days, Wednesday and Thursday, but the organizations agreed not to run the strike into Thursday.

The decision came at a meeting between the representatives of the striking transporters and the Chief Secretary of Sindh, K. B. Rind here on Wednesday.

Mr Rind, who chaired the meeting, also formed a committee comprising secretaries of Home, Transport and Excise departments. The committee has been entrusted with maintaining liaison with the transporters with an aim of solving their provincial level problems. — APP
