‘CE can be impleaded’

Published October 29, 2002

LAHORE, Oct 28: Justice Raja Muhammad Sabir of the Lahore High Court has observed that the chief executive and the federation could be impleaded as party for seeking relief from the courts.

The judge made the observation during the hearing of a writ petition filed by People’s Lawyers Forum secretary-general Hanif Tahir.

He observed that the president could not be impleaded as a party in view of suspension of Article 248 of the Constitution under the Proclamation of Emergency Order. But the desired relief could be sought from the president by impleading the Chief Executive and Federation as party because the offices of the President and the Chief Executive were being held by the same person.
