KARACHI, Oct 28: A 14-year-old boy, Mohammad Arshad, died on the spot after being hit by a vehicle in Gulzar-i-Hijri on Monday. He was a resident of Surjani Town, sector 7-C. His body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem.

In another accident, one Nazeer Ahmed (13) was seriously injured by a hit-and-run vehicle near Dhobi Ghat Bridge in Pak Colony. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital where his condition was stated to be precarious.

SUICIDE: A housewife committed suicide at her home in Gulzar Colony, Korangi Industrial Area, on Monday. According to police, the woman, Munnawar Bibi (32) hanged herself from the ceiling fan after locking her room from inside. They quoted her husband as saying that she was suffering from a chronic disease. The couple had six children, police said.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for postmortem, they added.

FISHED OUT: Body of a 24-year-old man, Intizar Hussain, was fished out from Hawksbay on Monday. He was among the four picnickers who were swept away by strong currents on Sunday. The other three were rescued by lifeguards and rushed to hospital in a critical condition the same day, Edhi sources said.

Police said that Intizar Hussain was a resident of Jamshed Quarters and that his body was handed over to his family after legal formalities.

CARJACKINGS: At least 18 vehicles — six cars and 12 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen from different parts of the city on Monday.

Two cars were hijacked and four others stolen, police said adding that four motorcycles were taken away at gunpoint and eight bikes were stolen.
