Case against 4 FC men registered in Panjgur
QUETTA, Oct 25: The police registered a case on Friday against four officials of the Makran Scouts, a wing of the Frontier Corps, for opening up fire on the protesting people in Panjgur, killing two of them and injuring five others on Thursday.
“Yes, we have registered a case against four FC personnel on the report of a citizen Abdul Salam,” a police official in Panjgur confirmed when contacted by telephone.
The officials against whom the case has been registered include Captain Fazal Akram and Sobedar Habibullah. However, no arrest was reported in this connection till the filing of this report.
“We have made no arrest so far,” a police official said, adding that the case was also registered against many people who were involved in torching the offices of the district coordination officer (DCO), the Qazi Court and the Panjgur district Nazim and attacking many other government buildings during a protest demonstration.
The law enforcement agencies have already rounded up over a dozen people belonging to different political parties for damaging government buildings. More arrests would be made in this connection, police sources said.
Meanwhile, situation in Panjgur continues to be tense. People continued staging protest demonstrations and taking out processions in the township.
The Balochistan National Party held a public meeting in the town, condemning the FC firing on the people by the FC personnel.
The leaders of the BNP demanded immediate arrest of all FC men involved in killing and injuring the people.
They said all political parties of Balochistan should get united on this issue and launch a struggle for stopping such incidents in future.
The party leaders claimed that two more citizens were injured on Thursday when FC men once again opened fire on protesting people. Official sources, however, did not confirm it.
Heavy contingents of the Frontier Corps and police were patrolling the township to avert any more untoward incident.
