Pakistani files suit against employer

LOS ANGELES, Oct 24: A Pakistani from Houston has filed a lawsuit with the US federal court accusing his employer of adopting a discriminatory attitude.

Aziz Latif, 25, alleged that he was fired a day after he refused to pray to Jesus Christ during a training session in November 2000. The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, said Latif was hired in 1996, but does not specify which restaurant in Houston he worked for or what position he was being trained for.

A week before his firing, the lawsuit said, an evaluation praised Latif as a “great manager” who knew the “operation side of the business very well”.

The lawsuit said that despite being the Chick-fil-A’s employee, an Atlanta-based chain, he was refused to be paid the medical bills and expenses incurred during his service.

Aziz is seeking reinstatement and damages for emotional distress, attorneys fees and other arrears.
