KARACHI: AKU to set up arts faculty

KARACHI, Oct 21: The Aga Khan University will set up an arts and science faculty on a 550-acre-land in Karachi.

“The faculty will be commissioned in 2007 and it will accommodate 1200 students for four-year graduation programmes,” AKU president Shams Kassim-Lakha said, while making a presentation about the university at a function held in his honour by the Rotary Club Karachi.

He was presented an award by Sindh Finance Minister Dr Hafiz Shaikh for his contribution in the fields of education, health and management.

Shams Lakha said the AKU would start a PhD programme in nursing soon. Since 1983, he said, the university has produced 1500 nursing graduates.
