Fazl seeks support from Nawaz, Nasrullah

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 19: The secretary-general and nominee of the MMA for prime minister, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, began his campaign on Saturday to muster support by meeting the ARD chief Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan.

After the early-morning meeting, Fazl said that their views on the referendum, constitutional package, and issues of national and international importance, were unanimous.

Hence a coalition would be a natural one.

Nawabzada informed Fazl that he had pleaded his case in yesterday’s ARD meeting and will continue to support him in future.

He said that the Pakistan People’s Party president Makhdoom Amin Fahim has already consulted Benazir Bhutto and they have firm views on the matter.

Meanwhile, the exiled PML(N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif congratulated Maulana Fazlur Rahman and Hafiz Hussain Ahmed by phone from Jeddah on their election victory.

According to Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, Mian Nawaz Sharif assured that Maulana Fazlur Rahman can rely on his party’s support in his quest for the chief executive’s slot.
