MMA to enforce Shariat laws

GUJRANWALA, Oct 16: The mission of the Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal Pakistan (MMAP) is not to rule but to enforce the Shariat laws in the country.

This was stated by MMAP’s MNA-elect Maulana Qazi Hamidullah while speaking to the local district bar association here on Wednesday.

He said the MMAP would purge society of lawlessness, terrorism and obscenity. He said Islam was the religion of peace, love and harmony and the MMAP would ensure justice to common man.

He alleged the western media was propagating against Islam which was harming the Muslims around the world.

Speaking on the occasion, MMAP’s MPA-elect Maulana Ghulam Farid Hazarvi said that Muslims were the soldiers of Allah and were not afraid of the so-called superpower.

PRICES FIXED: The district price control committee has fixed the prices of essential food items, including flour, and warnned that hoarders and shopkeepers involved in the price hike will be taken to task.

At a meeting held here on Wednesday presided over by the district coordinating officer, the participants fixed prices of 20 kg flour bag at Rs189, rice Rs24 to Rs28 per kg, gur Rs16 to Rs22 per kg, moong Rs28 per kg, mash Rs40 per kg, masoor Rs36 to Rs40 per kg and beef Rs50 per kg.

The executive district officer, district officer (revenue) members of the district price control committee and traders were also present on the occasion.

ARRESTED: The district police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested 208 proclaimed offenders, 231 court fugitives and dozens of bandits during the last fortnight.

SSP Saud Aziz said on Wednesday that 26 Kalashnikovs, seven hand grenades, 113 rifles, 224 guns of 12 bore, 423 revolvers, 80 pistols, 22 carbines and 14,742 cartridges were recovered from their possession. Police also seized looted goods worth Rs4 million from their custody, he added.
