PESHAWAR, Oct 16: A branch of Allied Bank Limited (ABL) was robbed by three dacoits here on Wednesday morning.

The three culprits entered Kachehry branch of the ABL and tried to snatch a gun from the guard, Muslim Khan. On resistance the burglars shot at him and decamped with Rs682,000.

The bank staff rushed the guard to the Lady Reading Hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable.

“During the investigation the guard said that three armed men entered the bank and when they collected money from different cash counters he resisted and succeeded in saving the money,” police claimed.

But branch manager Mohammad Naseer said that when the burglars entered the bank all the staff immediately locked themselves in a basement room. Later on, when he checked the cash counters Rs682,000 was found missing.

Hashtnagri police have registered an FIR and are investigating.
