DADU, Oct 11: The police on Thursday booked 16 People’s Party Parliamentarians workers on charges of disrupting the polls.

Five of them were arrested on the same charges.

According to police reports, three PML-Q workers were injured after the PPP workers attacked the Bhitai Mohalla police station in Mehar town.

The police said the attackers were led by Ashiq Hussain Jamali.

According to the FIR, lodged against nine PPP workers by the PML-Q’s polling agent, three PML-Q agents — Irshad Hussain, Shahid Chandio and Shafqat Hussain Sehto — were injured in the attack.

Later, the PPP candidate from PS-77, Kazi Shafique Ahmed Mahessar, filed a complaint with the IGP Sindh and the DRO Dadu accusing DSP Mehar Tipu Sultan of interfering in the polling process. He also complained against filing of an FIR against nine PPP workers citing fake charges.

The IGP has transferred the DSP, Mehar, to the DSP headquarter and appointed DSP headquarter as DSP Mehar.

According to another police report, seven PPP workers were booked for injuring three SDA polling agents at the Abro police station in Rukkan town.

Rukkan police has arrested five of the persons nominated in the FIR lodged by one of the PML_Q polling agent, Ghulam Mohiuddin.

INJURED: Six persons, including one policeman, were injured on Thursday in a highway robbery on the Indus Highway, near Mehar town.
