ISLAMABAD, Oct 9: The ex-managing director of Ghazi-Barotha Hydel Power Project, Mohammad Hayat Chaddu, surrendered himself before an accountability court, that had issued a non-bailable warrant against him, earlier.

Soon after his appearance before the accountability judge, Mohammad Aslam Khan, the accused submitted a bail application before the court under Section 91 of the CrPC.

The accountability court in return issued notices on Wednesday to ascertain the point of view of the prosecution in this regard. The court adjourned the proceedings for October 15.

The prosecution accused the ex-MD for his alleged involvement in amassing assets of Rs5.9 million.

The reference stated that from 1960 to 1998, the accused paid Rs2.3 million as income tax while he declared income on the agriculture lands from 1981 to 97 as Rs1.5 million.

He purchased 2375 kanals of agriculture land in village Haitu, district Bhakar in his name, two pieces of land measuring 595 kanals in his name and Munawar Abbas worth Rs1.4 million, while he spent Rs110,000 in the construction of a house in Haitu village.

He also purchased plots in different housing societies in Lahore, Peshawar and Sargodha.
