Security measures reviewed

QUETTA, Oct 5: The Balochistan government has prepared a comprehensive security plan to provide conducive atmosphere to the voters so that they could cast their vote without any hurdle and fear on Oct 10.

The Home Secretary, Azmat Hanif Orakzai, discussed the plan in a meeting held here to review the steps being taken for maintaining law and order during the elections, on Saturday.

He said 126 candidates from all the 22 districts were contesting the NA seats, and 519 were in the run for 51 PA seats.

In Balochistan, over 3.9 million voters would cast their vote at 3,440 polling stations with 8,006 polling booths, the home secretary said adding that polling stations would be divided in three parts for security reasons.

HE SAID: “We have chosen 959 highly sensitive polling stations; the number of sensitive polling stations are 1,353 and normal polling station are only 1128.”
