Zarghoon Express escapes disaster

Published October 5, 2002

SUKKUR, Oct 4: The Quetta-bound Zarghoon Express escaped a major disaster on Friday after its locomotive was derailed between Damboli and Dingra stations on Sibi-Quetta section.

Several passengers were injured in the accident, which occurred at 2:30am about four kilometres from the place where the Quetta Express had derailed last week.

However, the Railway officials said that no one was injured.

The locomotive dragged in the sand for a long distance despite its slow speed because of the caution signal.

The train was later put on track as railway traffic remained suspended for several hours and another Quetta-bound train, Bolan Express, was stopped at Shikarpur.
