QUETTA, Oct 3: Two main member parties of the Grand National Alliance, the Pakistan Muslim League (QA) and the Millat Party (MP), have failed to make any seat-to-seat adjustments in Balochistan.

The provincial president of the Millat Party, Mir Taj Mohammad Khan Jamali, said this while speaking at a press conference with the party’s general-secretary, Arbab Hashim, here on Thursday.

He said candidates of both the parties were contesting elections separately in the province, as negotiations for seat-to-seat adjustments between them remained inconclusive.

Mr Jamali added that as a goodwill gesture, he had withdrawn his candidature from Nasirabad in favour of PML-QA Secretary-General Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to ensure his success.

He stated that he had asked the PML-QA leadership to withdraw its candidate, Syed Fazal Agha, in his favour but the provincial leadership of the party had refused to do so. The Millat Party’s high command had given the go-ahead to him for contesting for NA-259 (Quetta city), he said, adding that the party had launched a campaign in that connection.

Mr Jamali expressed dismay over a statement, issued by PML-QA leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, advising him to withdraw in favour of Fazal Agha, and asked that why they were not withdrawing their candidate in support of the Millat Party candidate.

However, Mr Hashim, who is running for PB-III (Quetta-3), said his party was ready for negotiations on the issue.
