FAISALABAD, Sept 28: Residents of Khurrianwala staged a sit-in on Saturday in front of the offices of district police officer here against police failure to register a gang-rape case.

The people of Khurrianwala, about 14 kilometres from here, reached the city by tractor-trolleys and wagons, carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the local police. They marched on various city roads before sit-in. The protesters demanded immediate registration of a case against the alleged dacoits who raped a girl while robbing the house of a labourer in Khurrianwala.

They told this scribe that seven gunmen forced their entry into the house of a labourer on Thursday night and collected cash and valuables. They tied the family members with ropes and raped the 15-year-old daughter of the labourer. The victims identified some of the bandits.

CASE REGISTERED: Satiana police on Saturday registered a case against four people on the charge of injuring a supporter of the PML-QA nominee and creating law and order situation.

No arrest has so far been made.
