Candidates harping on same tune

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: Almost all the candidates, contesting the forthcoming general elections from the Federal Capital, have same promises for the voters instead of offering their convictions and political theories.

Rao Javed Ali Khan, the Pakistan Democratic Party candidate for NA-48, said the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy had assembled all the major political parties on one platform for a meaningful political change in the country.

He was proud of mentioning that the PPP and the PML-N, despite their adverse ideologies, had been assembled on one forum for the restoration of true democracy. He did not mention the promises he had made with the residents and observed that the rule of law was the matter of serious concern, which was on the top of our political agenda.

“We have the plan to avert any new military dictatorship which is the desire of all the democrats,” he added.

Education and equal opportunities of employment for all the citizens without any discrimination, social justice, strict punishments on charges of corruption and provision of all the civic amenities to the citizens of Pakistan are the promises we have made with the electorates” he maintained.

Col Sanaullah of Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) and a candidate for NA-48 said provision of all the civic amenities was a matter of great importance for the people.

He pledged that if elected his party would ensure basic amenities for the people. “Supply of potable water is also an issue of serious concern for the residents particularly for the Kutcha Abadis.” He vowed that his party would ensure that all these facilities were made available to every one. The ordinance promulgated by the government to “give legal cover to all retrenchments in the public sector and all such discriminatory laws would be repealed” he pledged.

All those laws which create discrimination would also be abrogated, he said adding “although our main aim is to bring an Islamic revolution in the country.

Mian Muhammad Aslam of Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal, a candidate for NA-48, said for him the housing was the number one problem for the residents of the capital. “If comes to power, his party would ensure construction of 300,000 housing units in the Capital.
