PPP leader refutes DPO’s allegations

FAISALABAD, Sept 25: PPP district president and ex-MNA Ch Muhammad Ilyas claims that his enmity with the clan of DPO Zafar Abbas Luk is dated back to 1959 and since then three murderous attempts have been made on him by the Luk family.

Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, the former MNA refuted the allegations levelled by the DPO in which he was dubbed as a gangster, head of a qabza group, a killer and involved in providing shelter to criminals.

He claimed that in Sept 1996 Muhammad Luk, son of Allah Yar Luk, had attacked and injured him during his air journey from Islamabad to Faisalabad. Reacting sharply, the security commandos shot dead the attacker in the plane.

In 1959, elders of the Luks had a fabricated case registered against him for murdering Murad and Allah Dak Luk. “The Luk family members are residing in Jhang and Sargodha and DPO Zafar Abbas is also one of their family members. The Luk family is now using the DPO to achieve their end”, he alleged.

Ch Ilyas claimed the DPO, DSP (Legal) Haqdad Lillah, Ch Talib Hussain, the PML-QA candidate for NA-81, and ex-MPA Amjad Warraich of Gojra hatched a conspiracy to kill him at the residence of Mr Talib about 10 days ago.

He alleged the DPO residence had been converted into an election camp of PML-QA nominees and this violation was reported to the election commission and print media due to which the police raided his outhouse. He blamed the police were also threatening PPP supporters because his son-in-law, Dr Nisar Ahmad, was a candidate for NA-81 against PML-QA’s Ch Talib Hussain.

Meanwhile, various PPP leaders including Punjab secretary-general Rana Aftab Ahmad, gave vent to their discontent, terming the act of DPO Zafar Abbas unlawful and conspiracy against the PPP.

They further alleged that SHOs involved in custodial death cases had been posted at important police stations in the district by the DPO to influence the election results.

To substantiate their point, they quoted the examples of SHOs posted at Saddar, Jaranwala, Chak Jhumra, Nishatabad, Sargodha Road, Peoples Colony, Tandlianwala, Satiana, Samundri, Mamunkanjan, Ghulam Muhammadabad and D-Type Colony. Just a day ago, the Dijkot and Batala Colony SHOs were replaced at the beck and call of the PML-QA candidate, they claimed.
