HYDERABAD, Sept 25: The Sindh University on Wednesday decided to allow its Institute of Sindhology to publish greeting cards on Eid and New Year to generate income.

This was decided in a meeting held under the chairmanship of the university’s vice chancellor, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui. All section heads of the Institute of Sindhology attended the meeting.

The institute, it was decided, will continue to focus on publication of good books.

The meeting decided that a function will be organised to pay tribute to Allama Ghulam Mustafa Qasmi, a scholar par excellence.

A three-artist group exhibition will also be organised in Nov 2002.

The chief of the institute’s publication section said that Saheed Soomro had submitted his manuscript on the “History of Jamshoro.”

He said that the same author had been assigned to work on the cultural aspects of rural Sindh under the title of “Autaq”.

The publication section was also collecting research articles in Sindhi and English for the institute’s journals “Sindhi Adab.”

Saeendad Sand’s manuscript on “Sindhi Literature of Thar” will be presented before the institute’s advisory board for approval and consequent publication, he informed the meeting.
