QUETTA, Sept 22: Kohlu and Barkhan were rocked on Saturday night when eight rockets exploded near government offices and residential areas.

However, no casualty was reported in the rocket attacks by unknown people from the mountains, sources said.

“Four rockets landed and exploded with brief intervals in Kohlu township late night causing minor loss of property,” a Kohlu administration official said.

The first rocket, he said, exploded in Musa Colony and another exploded after 10 minutes in Killi Jahanzab. The people came out of their houses. However, none of the rockets exploded near the houses.

Later, two rockets exploded outside a checkpoint of Frontier Corps established for the protection of the township, the district headquarter of Marri tribal agency.

“No personnel of Frontier Corps was injured in the attack,” official sources told this correspondent over telephone on Sunday.

According to another report, unknown people fired four rockets at the office of Barkhan district coordination officer in the early hours of Sunday.

“Nobody was wounded in the explosions,” sources in Barkhan said and added that the office was not damaged.

“Only four big ditches developed at the sites where the rockets exploded,” they said.

An official said a case had been registered against unknown people for the attacks.
