‘Tripartite talks only solution to Kashmir dispute’

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Sept 16: Tripartite talks are the only remedy to a peaceful solution to Kashmir issue, which if not solved could push the two nuclear rivals into a war and could destroy peace in the South Asia.

This was stated by the chairman of the All Jammu and Kashmir Youth Council (AJKYC), Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, while speaking to the participants of an anti-Indian elections rally in front of the United Nations (UN) office in Rawalpindi.

The rally started from the AJKYC’s Secretariat and ended at the UN office where the participants submitted a memorandum in the name of the UN secretary general, Kofi Annan.

In the memorandum they demanded of the UN to reject the so- called elections in the Indian administered Kashmir and asked for the right of self determination for the Kashmiris.

Mr Abbasi said that if the world wanted to do justice with the blood of 80,000 Kashmiri martyrs then it should pressurise the Indian government to hold plebiscite in Kashmir.

It is possible only after compelling the Indian government to start tri-party talks, which are denied by the Indian government over and over again, he added.

He asked the human rights organisations to highlight the state terrorism committed by the Indian authorities in the held Kashmir.

The AJKYC’s secretary general for Punjab, Raja Imran, said the Kashmiri youth were aware of their destination as a free nation and they would fight for freedom till their last breath.

APP ADDS: Kashmiris from both sides of the Line of Control held a demonstration in front of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to protest against the farcical elections in the occupied Kashmir.

The Kashmiri political leaders including leaders from Azad Kashmir and the All Parties Hurriyat Conference participated in the demonstration.

The protesters marched from the Foreign Office to the Indian High Commission where the leaders including the president of the Muslim Conference, Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan, spoke to the gathering.

The speakers said the sham elections of the past were rigged and the present phased election drama would not be different.

A plebiscite under the auspices of the UN is the only answer to the Kashmir issue and the fake polls being held under the Indian constitution can not solve the issue, they added.
