LAHORE, Sept 15: Local favourite Shoaib Bokhari clinched the Governor’s Cup golf tournament with a 54-hole aggregate of six-under 210 at the Lahore Gymkhana course Sunday.
The 10-handicapper and an overnight leader shot a two-over 74 on the final day. He had an identical 42 for the front-nine and the back-nine.
Shoaib played a birdie-free round and instead had huge 14 bogeys, including a double bogey on the fifth.
Brig Mohammad Anwar-ul-Haq (Garrison) finished in sole position of second place with a score of one-over 217 and seven strokes behind the winner.
Anwar, a nine-handicapper, did his front-nine in 43 and the outer in 42. Like the winner, he too had a birdieless round but 13 bogeys.
Vaqas (Rawalpindi), who had under-par cards on the first two days, played sluggishly on the final day as he carded five-over 77 for 218 and eight strokes behind Shoaib whom he lead by one after the first 18 holes.
However, Vaqas won the gross event with total of two-over 218. He also won the maximum birdies trophy with 15, including two on the last day.
Asma Shami of Garrison, with a two-day total of 151, won the ladies net trophy. Mumtaz Kiyani (PGA) finished runners-up with 155 while Bela Azam of Gymkhana was third.
Jamila Jabbar (Garrison) won the gross trophy with a score of 168. Ayesha Amin (223) was second.
Salman Jehangir (Gymkhana) won the net trophy in the juniors section with score of 54. One stroke behind was Wazir Ali. Wamiq Shakeel (Rawalpindi), with a score of 84, won the gross trophy whereas Salman Khawar (91) was the runners-up.
Ijaz Ahmed of Lahore Gymkhana, with 141 score, won the net trophy of the seniors event. Col. Hamayun Rashid was second a stroke behind.
