HYDERABAD: Govt’s propaganda to be defeated: Aftab Shaikh

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Sept 10: The oppressed people of Sindh will defeat the propaganda of the government by casting votes in favour of the kite on October 10, the deputy convenor of the MQM’s Co- ordination Committee, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, said on Tuesday.

Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, who is also the party’s candidate from NA-220, urged the “Haq Parast Awam” to prove, once and for all, to the establishment that Hyderabad was the city of the followers of Altaf Hussain.

He said this while inaugurating the party’s electoral office of NA-219 and PS-48 in Sector G of Hyderabad’s MQM zone. Several MQM candidates for national and provincial assemblies, zonal and sector office bearers and a large number of people of the area were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Professor Khalid Wahab, the MQM’s candidate from NA-219, said that implementation of the 1940 resolution regarding provincial autonomy was vital for the development of the area.

The MQM’s demand, he said, for provincial autonomy did not violate the framework of the country’s constitution, adding that strong provinces guaranteed a strong Pakistan.

Meanwhile, under the instruction of the MQM’s chief, Altaf Hussain, the party’s Hyderababd zone has set up a free medical camp in collaboration with Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation and Medical Aid Committee. The medical camp has been set up on the roundabout of Allah Wali Mosque Latifabad. Professor Khalid Wahab inaugurated the medical camp.

MMA: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has slammed the arrest of the alliance’s central leaders in Lahore to prevent them from launching a train march.

Speaking at an impromptu press conference at the press club here the other day the MMA leaders and its candidates said the government was trying to find an excuse to postpone the general election as it was aware of the fact that the candidates of the “king’s party” would face a defeat at the hands of the MMA.

A leader of the Jamat Islami, Abdul Waheed Qureshi, said the government had also created hurdles in the way of the central leaders when they launched the train march from Rawalpindi to Lahore by sealing platforms.
