Drug-pusher killed in encounter

By Our Correspondent

OKARA, Sept 8: An alleged drug-pusher was killed by Rangers while two others managed to escape under cover of darkness on the border with India at Khoi Muridwala village near Basirpur on Saturday night.

According to sources, Rangers had encircled Khoi Muridwala on a tip-off. They noticed the three men entering Pakistani territory and sounded a warning. The alleged drug-pushers opened fire on Rangers, which was returned. As a result, one of them died while the other two escaped, leaving behind 61 bottles of Indian wine, firearms and wrist-watches.

The dead was later identified as a resident of Khoi Muridwala, Abdul Khaliq.
