Britain to publish dossier on Iraq

Published September 4, 2002

LONDON, Sept 3: British Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Tuesday that his government would publish in a few weeks a document containing evidence that Iraq is making weapons of mass destruction.

Addressing a press conference in the northern English city of Sedgefield, Blair said his government was in constant touch with the US about the Iraq issue.

He said so far no decision had been taken about military action to topple President Saddam Hussein.

The decision by Blair to publish the much-awaited dossier shows that the British government is trying its best to convince public opinion and other European nations that a US-led military action against Iraq, if taken, would be justified.

But Blair conceded the support of the international community to deal with Iraq is very important.
