PTCL plans to introduce more bandwidth packages

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 2: Keeping in view the special requirements of software exporters, educational institutions, corporate customers and other small and medium IT users, the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) will be introducing two new bandwidth packages.

A PTCL spokesman said the packages would be introduced with significantly reduced rates to help the users to compete in the international market and also to make businesses commercially more attractive.

In the two new packages, the 2MB international bandwidth IP rates have been reduced to $3,800 from $6,000 per month.

The spokesman said the new packages would be available from September 15 and details of new rates were available at the PTCL website. The new packages will in addition to the currently available ‘premium’ package, for which the tariff was reduced in January.

The 2MB bandwidth international IP connectivity rate was brought down to only $6,000 per month from a previous rate of $96,000 per month.

The existing package provides only committed bandwidth and does not allow for occasional requirement of short duration additional bandwidth for which the new packages will be introduced, he added.

The spokesman said the new packages, Econo and Budget would be based on shared bandwidth and Committed Information Rate with an additional “burst” facility, respectively. The Econo package offers upto 2MB bandwidth for a rate as low as $3,800 per month.
