115 papers rejected in Balochistan

QUETTA, Sept 2: In Balochistan, 115 nomination papers filed for 14 national and 51 provincial assembly general seats were rejected during scrutiny.

A total 1,089 candidate had filed their nomination papers for general seats in the province and after scrutiny 974 remain in the field.

The nomination papers of 23 candidates of National Assembly and 92 for Balochistan Assembly were rejected.

The nomination papers of president of Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam), women’s wing, Balochistan, Rehana Yahya Baloch; Quetta PML(QA) President Rabina Irfan and Shama Perven Masgsi, wife of a former chief minister, were rejected with nine other women candidates for reserved seats.

Provincial Election Commissioner Abdullah Khan, the returning officer for the reserved seats, announced his decision regarding rejection and acceptance of the nomination papers on Monday.

The nomination papers of two women, Shama Perven Magsi and Arzoo Nahid Shah of PML(QA), out of 29 candidates for the reserved seats in the National Assembly from Balochistan were rejected.

For the reserved seats in the provincial assembly, 72 women had filed their papers and 10 were rejected.

The nomination papers of two candidates for minority seats in the provincial assembly, Nanna Sigh and Tara Chanad of PML(QA), were rejected.

The women whose papers were accepted for reserved seats in the National Assembly are: Syeda Nargis Baloch of Millat Party, Robeena Sikandar of Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party, Samina Khan of Balochistan National Democratic Party, Fareeda Tahir Nosherwani of PML(QA), Zil-i-Huma of People’s Party Parliamentarians, Robeena Jabeen Butt of PML, Khadeeja Mengal of Balochistan National party, Nuzhat Iftekhar of PML(QA), Noor Jehan Panazai of PML(QA), Ghazala Begum of PPP, Fozia Tabassum of PPP, Shumaila Hameedullah of PPP, Shireen Noor of National Alliance, Zubeda Jalal of PML(QA), Dr Safia Taj of Balochistan National Movement, Shaia Shahjehan Khetran of PML(QA), Kosar Jehan of Jamhoori watan Party, Ashraf Abbasi of PML(QA), Ruquiya Saeed of PML(QA), Umrana Khawar of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Bilqees Saif of MMA, Samina Saeed of MMA, Ruqiya Bibi Jakhrani of MMA, Bibi Farzana of PML, Khadeeja of PMAP, Shazia Ali of PWP and Amna Aziz of TI.

The returning officers for two National Assembly and six Balochistan Assembly seats from Quetta rejected 10 National Assembly and 24 provincial assembly nomination papers.
