LAHORE, Aug 31: The national badminton championship will be played in mid of October at Islamabad under the aegis of newly elected Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) as its first major national tournament.
This was stated by secretary, PBF, Aamir Hayat Rokari Saturday while unveiling the future activity plan of the body.
He told APP that in the national championship over twenty teams will take part and format of the event, under the new devolution of power of plan, will be announced in due course of time.
Rokari while highlighting the activity programme for the remaining part of the current year,vowed to revive the game at grass root level and renewed his pledge to take badminton to new heights.
He said a national ranking tournament will be held at Lahore after a two-week time of National championship.
“A youth tournament under-18 will be held at Karachi after the holy month of Ramadan,” he said and added “the event is being introduced to tape talent and to determine a group of talented would be players”.
“I will devote my all resources including my hall and academy for the betterment and promotion of badminton “,he said.
He revealed that Sri Lankan team will be invited early next year to play one test match against Pakistan.—APP
