HYDERABAD, Aug 29: Nazim, Hyderabad city taluka, Haji Moinuddin Shaikh, has strongly reacted to the water and power crisis in the city and said that the crisis have been created by the concerned agencies.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that the irony was that both the departments, Hesco and Wasa, instead of accepting their inefficiency, were trying to blame each other for the water crisis.

A large number of delegations from Faqir-jo-Pir, Chotki Ghitti, Hirabad, Afandi Town and other localities met with the Nazim and complained to him about acute shortage of drinking water and frequent break downs in power supply.

He said that concerned departments could not always take refuge behind technical faults.

The Nazim said that when the consumers were paying huge and inflated power and water bills they were entitled to regular supply of water and power.

He said that non-supply of drinking water and power breakdowns had made lives of the people miserable and completely paralysed the city life.

He urged Hesco and Wasa chiefs to evolve a proper strategy and planning to save the people from the perennial problem.

Meanwhile, the managing director, Water and Sanitation Agency, Hyderabad Development Authority, in a statement issued here on Thursday said that frequent power breakdowns has caused severe water shortage in Qasimabad, Latifabad and Hyderabad city areas.
