LARKANA, Aug 25: The Internet service, provided by the Paknet, has become a torture for the Net surfers in Larkana.

There must be 256k bandwidth for an ISP but in Larkana it is only 64k which is affecting the speed.

The frequent disconnection is a routine here for which the surfers have no reliable technical assistance to rectify the fault.

There are only 30 modems installed here for which the registration number has swelled to 1200, according to a survey conducted by Dawn.

The Net surfers are more often trapped in a situation where they don not get connection as 20 Internet cafes are always connected, leaving only ten lines for the rest of the surfers.

An Internet cafe owner said they were disconnected for more than 20 times just in three hours.

After making registration free, the number of surfers shot up but the management of the Paknet did not update its system in Larkana.

The old equipment, coupled with improper response at the ISP end, irritated the surfers, owners of Internet cafes said.

Presently, the Paknet facilitates Larkana, Usta Mohammad, Shahdadkot, Sujawal, Madeji, Naudero, Kambar, Ratodero, Warah, Wagan, Nasirabad, Badah, Mirokhan, Qubo Saeed Khan and other areas.
