KARACHI, Aug 24: A good number of students and parents approached the college admission committee and the office of the district officer education (colleges) for reopening of dates for submission of class XI admission applications.
Parents who could not submit the admission forms till August 23, the last date for receiving applications at banks, apprised members of the centralized admission committee and the DOE (colleges) about their failure in submitting the forms on time and requested for allowance of further time to submit the forms.
It was learnt that the students could not submit their forms on time due to different reasons, including their inability to get the documents attested by the officials concerned. It was also pleaded before the authorities that due to late delivery of mark sheets they could not report to the banks on time.
Those who could not submit the forms have urged the City Nazim, who is the sole authority in the case of college admissions, to order reopening of dates so that the leftover students could submit their forms and get admissions, otherwise they could be deprived of a precious academic year.
Meanwhile, sources said that special arrangements were made at the Board of Secondary Education to deliver the SSC annual examination mark sheets. Most of the mark sheets were those prepared after scrutiny and review of the results on the complaints of the candidates.
About 4,000 mark sheets are still to be delivered to students, while a number of scrutiny cases are yet to be decided by the Board, added the sources.
Sources in the admission committee said 66,000 applications were received by August 23 for admissions to class XI classes in the government-run colleges and higher secondary schools, while the number of sold forms and prospectus was over 8,3000.
