LAHORE, Aug 16: Three new records were created in the Independence Day Lahore district Age Group swimming championship at the Model Town Club pool Friday.
All three records were set in the Under-15 Age Group competition. Sikandar established two new records in the 100 metres freestyle and 50 metres butterfly while Syed Mustafa Shah set a new record in 100 metres back-stroke. Sikandar broke the first record in 100 metres freestyle by covering the distance in 1:1.02 sec. He broke the previous record timing of 1:5.71 sec set by Daniyal Lashari on July 28, 2000.
Sikandar went on to smash the second record by covering 50 m distance in butterfly clocking 29.97 shattering the previous record of 36.06 sec held by Ghazi Aurangzeb in August 1997.
Shah created a new record when he clocked 1:16.60 sec to cover 100 metres distance in back-stroke event. Mansoor Ali Khan who achieved the timing of 1:19.40 sec in June 1993 was the holder of this record.
The competitions were held in the U-8, U-10, U-12, U-15 and U-18 age groups.
