Eight teams qualify

GILGIT, Aug 13: Eight football teams from all the five districts of Northern Areas have qualified to contest in the Independence Day football tournament starting today (Wednesday) at Gilgit Model High School Ground, Gilgit Football Association said Tuesday.

Gilgit Eleven, Kashrout Club, Karakoram Club, Gilgit Sports Club, Friends Eleven, Pioneers’ Jutiyal Club and Amphari Sports Club would participate in the tournament.

The Northern Areas chief secretary Maj Fazil Durrani will be the chief guest at the inaugural matche while the Force Commander of Northern Areas Maj-Gen Nadeem Ahmed will be the chief guest for the final.

Fortyfour teams failed to qualify and were eliminated.
