Hunger strike called off

GILGIT, Aug 9: The Northern Areas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NACCI) called off its three-day hunger strike on Friday and said that the administration has assured them that the taxation problem will be resolved.

NACCI President Shebaz Khan advocate said at a press conference that the executive committee of the chamber had called off the strike till Aug 20. He said a delegation of the chamber would discuss with the Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas secretary issues pertaining to taxes in the light of the constitutional status of the region.—Correspondent
