Transfer of power to dist govts reviewed

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Aug 3: The Balochistan government distributed Rs410 million to all the district governments on account of transition fund last year and allocated Rs218 million in the current financial year.

This was told at a meeting presided over by Governor Amirul Mulk Mengal here on Saturday. The meeting reviewed the pace of transfer of power to the local bodies in the province.

The meeting was informed that the provincial government had provided adequate funds to the district governments so that they could provide stationery and other material to the district, Tehsil and union council offices.

The meeting noted that the provincial finance commission, local bodies commission, and public safety commission had already been set up in 20 districts. Many other committees were also being established in the districts.

Meanwhile, the governor had a meeting with the chairmen of the public service commissions of all the provinces and discussed matters of common interest with them.
