KARACHI: Hawkesbay scheme reviewed

KARACHI, Aug 3: Governor Sindh Muhammedmian Soomro said on Saturday that the government was working in a well-planned and coordinated way to develop a civilized environment, provide modern facilities and improve the standard of life in the urban as well as the rural areas.

The governor was speaking at the site of the Hawkesbay Housing Scheme to those shifted there from the Lyari river banks because of the Expressway project.

The governor directed the officials concerned to arrange for water supply, drainage, electricity and other basic facilities for the people at the housing scheme, saying he wanted to see result-oriented work in two months.

He told the people that the Lyari Expressway and the Northern Bypass projects would boost economic activities, ease traffic congestion and help keep the city neat and clean.

“It is a basic right of the citizens to live in a pleasant and healthy atmosphere”, he said and added that the people residing along both the banks of Lyari river in a filthy and polluted environment could now live a better life.—PPI
