HYDERABAD, Aug 2: The Hyderabad taluka city council at its session held here on Thursday adopted a unanimous resolution not to give any municipal property to any government and semi- government department without payment as was the practice in vogue.
The resolution was tabled by Usman Abbasi after long discussion.
Abbasi said that the council had been looted in the past and while its properties were taken over by government and semi- government departments without any payment, the council itself was forced to purchase the land for bus terminal on Hali Road.
He also tabled another resolution about the dilapidated condition of the embankments of Phuleli and Pinyari canals.
Several members of the council severely criticized the Irrigation Department for failing to strengthen the embankments of canals and endangering human lives and properties.
The council also decided to submit a detailed report to the National Reconstruction Bureau on the devolution of power system. The session was adjourned sine die.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad city taluka Nazim Haji Moinuddin Shaikh has decided to set up a three-day camp at Hafiz Mubarak Ali Shah Shopping Centre from Aug 6 to collect rents of municipal properties and other fees for payment of salaries to employees.
He said this while talking to the office-bearers of the municipal workers’ union (CBA) and the Nazimeen of several union councils, who called on him in his office here on Thursday.
Shaikh regretted the council had not received the amount for the salaries of employees for June and July.
