KARACHI, Aug 2: An investigation arm of the FIA arrested on Friday a priest, who had been declared an absconder in a bank fraud case.

Officials said Elvin Gill of a church in Mehmoodabad was booked in a bank fraud case involving embezzlement of more than Rs3.39 million.

Three men, including the priest, had been booked in the case. One of the accused, Faizullah Shaikh, was an officer at the UBL’s Defence branch, which was defrauded. The bank official, however, died, and Shabbir Ahmed, an account holder, was arrested. Elvin Gill remained untraceable.

Officials said the priest had gone to Korea and he recently returned home in connection with the forthcoming elections.
