LONDON, July 30: The High Court of Justice, in its judgment delivered on July 2, ruled that Jamil Dehlavi could claim a sum of 49,000 pound sterling which according to him (Jamil), the Quaid Project Limited UK owed to him.

Jamil Dehlavi had brought a case against his own company, Petra Limited, and against the QPL for four of his claims. The claims included: 1) that the the sum of 49,000 pounds was owed to him instead of to his company; 2) that 15 per cent royalties were owed to him from the film Jinnah; 3) that he should be allowed to audit the QPL, and 4) that he should be awarded credits for the film. Except for the claim for 49,000 pounds, the other claims were not accepted by the court.

The court was informed that Akbar S. Ahmad had hired Jamil to work with him on the film in 1996.

Meanwhile, the QPL which has won in respect of three claims has decided to appeal against the fourth claim.
