ISLAMABAD, July 27: President Gen Pervez Musharraf said on Saturday that Pakistan would never compromise on its just stand on Kashmir and continue to support the UN Security Council resolution calling for the future of Kashmir to be decided according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

The president was speaking at a special conference of corps commanders held at the GHQ and attended by all corps commanders and principal staff officers, a press release said.

The corps commanders discussed the latest scenario in the region arising out of the deployment of Indian troops along Pakistan’s borders.

The meeting reviewed the prevalent situation in depth and evaluated the hostile Indian moves posing increasing threat to the security and sovereignty of Pakistan. The conference reviewed the deployment of Pakistani troops in perspective of recently concluded war-games.

The president briefed the participants about the prevailing international and regional environment.

He dwelt in detail on the interaction of the government with dignitaries from the USA, Lebanon, Iran, UK and Sri Lanka, who had visited Pakistan in the recent past.

He also spoke of his upcoming visit to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Later, Gen Musharraf gave an overview of the law and order situation in the country. He informed the commanders of the improvement that was discernible in the performance of the law enforcement agencies.

The president observed that the induction, training and motivation of the police force had improved which had resulted in the arrest of a large number of terrorists.

The recent successes of the law enforcement agencies would definitely further improve the law and order situation in the country.

At the end, Gen Musharraf congratulated all commanders and participants of the recently-concluded war-games for their outstanding contribution and performance.
