Man kills wife, body recovered

SUKKUR, July 26: The police on Thursday recovered the body of an 18-year-old girl from a husk pile, who was allegedly gunned down by her husband, Juma Kosh, and his four brothers some two days ago in the Mir Kosh village, Daharki.

The girl, Khanzadi, was forcibly married with Juma some time back after the decision of a Jirga of the Kosh Tribe which had declared her brother Rashid as ‘Karo’ on the charge of having illicit relations with the sister of Juma.

Din Mohammad, father of Khanzadi, was also forced to pay Rs25,000 and six goats to the father of Juma Kosh as compensation.

Some two days back, Din Mohammad came to invite his son-in-law, Juma, and his daughter, Khanzadi, to attend the marriage of Rashid.

But Juma refused to accept the invitation and also stopped his wife from going to her parents’ house, saying that “Rashid is our Karo”.

But as Din Mohammad left for the house, Khanzadi insisted upon attending the marriage, which infuriated Juma, who, along with his four brother, shot her dead and buried her body in the husk pile.

The parents of Khanzadi on a tip-off informed the police about the missing of their daughter from the house of her husband. The police took up the case, conduct a search and recovered her body from the pile.

When the police were conducting search all the four brothers of Juma fled.

The body was handed over to the parents after the postmortem and a case was registered against the accused.
