Ulema moot on 24th

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, July 21: All local leaders of religious parties and Ulema of the Mansehra district would attend the Ulema Convention being held in Islamabad on July 24.

This was stated in a press release issued by the JUI (F) Secretary Information, Mansehra district, Qazi Habibur Rehman, on Sunday.

The convention is being held against the government policy on Madaris and the “growing influence of the imperialist powers” in the country, the release said.

At a meeting of the Ulema, presided over by Mufti Kifayatullah, member executive body of the Vifaqul Madaris, it was pledged that the Ulema would render all sacrifices for the protection of Islamic culture and for preserving the autonomy of the religious schools, it added.

The participants of the meeting, according to the press release, warned the rulers that they would not be allowed to drag the country towards a civil war for pursuing the agenda of the foreign powers.

The meeting demanded immediate withdrawal of the Madaris Ordinance.
