ISLAMABAD, July 15: The National Logistics Board on Saturday approved a Rs5.014 billion budget for the year 2002-03.
According to official sources, the budget was approved at the 36th meeting of the board, which was held under the chairmanship of finance minister Shaukat Aziz.
The revenue target for the year 2002-03 was set at a record Rs5.156 billion.
The meeting reviewed the NLC’s performance in the year 2001- 02, when 94 per cent of the budgetary targets were achieved, investment was highest ever at Rs1.2 billion and Rs459 million of loans were paid back.
The Board was apprised of the progress made by the NLC in international transportation. The arrangements made for transporting relief goods to Afghanistan and trade goods to Central Asian States were also discussed.
The meeting was also attended by NLC officer-incharge Lt-Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat, director-general Maj-Gen Syed Haider Jawed, engineers and directors besides the secretaries for finance, railways, communications, planning and development divisions.
