ISLAMABAD: CDA to remove 50 unauthorized mosques

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 13: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will remove 50 unauthorized mosques constructed in the capital without the approval of the authority, a senior official of the CDA’s planning wing told Dawn on Saturday.

Most of the unauthorized mosques had been constructed without submitting proper building plan while some were built on state land, the official said. An operation in this regard will start within a couple of weeks, he added.

He said these mosques were situated in different areas of the capital. He said the Auqaf department had also been informed about the CDA’s plan regarding removal of unauthorized mosques.

The Auqaf department, he said, would also assist the CDA in conducting the operation. Negotiations with the management committees of unauthorized mosques were in progress to settle the issue in a peaceful manner, he added.
