KARACHI: Accused remanded

KARACHI, July 13: The Judicial Magistrate-I East, Karachi, Ms Shaista Hameed, remanded on Saturday two accused, Ataur Rahman alias Hashim and Mohammed Azam alias Sharif, in police custody till July 21.

The accused are alleged to have murdered Ehtishamuddin Haider, an older brother of the Minister of the Interior, Moinuddin Haider, last year in Karachi.

Both the accused are affiliated with the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and involved in sectarian and targeted killings in the past 12 months. Ataur Rahman and Mohammed Azam were booked under FIR No 294/2001 and charged with sections 302/34 of PPC. — PPI
