HYDERABAD, July 12: Two men were arrested on Thursday on the charges of criminally assaulting a deaf and dumb teenage girl.

According to reports, the 15-year-old girl, S, was brought here on Wednesday night from Sohrab Goth, Karachi, in a bus (JB-1065) by the driver, Daraz Khan, and the conductor, Saleem.

After the last passenger had left the bus at the general bus terminus, the girl was subjected to criminal assault by the driver and the conductor.

Later, they handed her over to another bus conductor, Nangar, son of Eidu Qambrani, resident of Tando Jehanyan, who took her to his home and raped her.

In the morning, he left the girl with his wife who took her to some other persons and she was again raped by two men.

On Thursday night, when Daraz Khan and Nangar were taking the girl to some place, a party of Qasimabad police spotted them on the National Highway, near Wadhu Wah.

The police arrested Nangar and rescued the girl but Daraz Khan escaped.

According to the police, the victim, who was apparently mentally disturbed, narrated her ordeal through signs and in broken writing.

Taking notice of the incident, Hyderabad District Police Officer Moazzam Jah directed the police to register a case and constituted two teams to arrest the other accused. The bus has been impounded.

The police arrested another accused, Saleem, son of Ali Mohammad, and conducted raids for the arrest of Daraz Khan.

An FIR under Sections 10(4) and 16 of the Hudood Ordinance has been registered with the Cantonment police station on behalf of the state. The girl is being kept at the police station.

The victim has been medically examined and the medical certificate is awaited. However, sources said that it had been proven from physical examination that she had been gang-raped.
